PROFILES: KHALIL MACK

Today we study the game of the 2016 NFL defensive player of the year, Khalil Mack. The Raiders defensive end / outside linebacker has developed in his three years in the league into of the most feared defenders. Mack is the complete package as an edge rusher, able to play equally effective versus the run and the pass.

Mack lines up on both sides of the Raiders line, although primarily plays on the left side, matching up against the opponents right tackles. He does not have Joey Bosa´s repertoire of pass-rush moves, but between his upper body and lower body strength and his exceptional lateral agility he is a headache for rivals players to block. Versus the run his main responsibility is to establish the edge and not allow any run to go to the outside. He lacks the power to play inside and fight bigger players but he easily dominates fullbacks, tight ends or even guards when they pull to his side. Mack is the edge rusher that every franchise looks for.
